Inpatient Hospice Care
Hospice Ministries, Inc.
Hospice Ministries cares for you or your loved one where you are the most comfortable. We provide care at home, assisted living facilities, hospitals, and nursing homes. Our Inpatient Hospice Center in Ridgeland is the oldest and largest inpatient hospice facility in Mississippi.
Acute Care
For patients whose pain and other symptoms cannot be controlled at home or in a residential setting, we can admit patients to our inpatient facility. There they will receive specialized care for their acute symptoms where pain and symptoms can be controlled. Our team of hospice professionals will be there to ensure that the patient is cared for and that their needs are met.
While our inpatient hospice facility features the highest level of medical, emotional and spiritual support, it is designed with a home-like feel and provides:
- 24/7 access for families and friends
- Warmly decorated rooms that open up to garden or scenic views
- A family kitchen, dining room and other common areas for families to gather
Residential Care
We partner with an extensive network of facilities throughout the region to provide care to those already in a nursing home, assisted-living facility, retirement community or any other residential care setting.
The Hospice Ministries team will not replace the professionals already providing care in these facilities. Instead, we coordinate with caregivers and facility staff to manage the patients’ symptoms and needs in the best way possible. Our extra measure of care, attention and companionship enhances the existing services while also providing the unique end-of-life care only Hospice Ministries can provide.
Respite Care
Hospice Ministries can provide short-term care in select nursing facilities or in our inpatient center when a caregiver needs extra assistance or needs to leave home for an extended period of time.
Patients can be admitted to our inpatient facility at any point during hospice care. It is our goal to make families and patients feel as much at home as possible during their final days. Our rooms are designed to look like bedrooms and not hospital rooms. With access to a kitchen, community areas, and outdoor areas, patients and families can find comfort and feel loved as they are cared for by a team of professionals.
A Testimony of Ministry
“Recently at the inpatient unit we had a patient who was at the end of life, and his wife was having a really hard time coming to terms that he was dying. One of our nurses realized that she was concerned because he had not been baptized, and although he didn’t really push the issue, she felt that he needed to be baptized. I’m not sure how they did it because this gentleman was bed-bound and total care, but they were able to get him to a bath tub, get him immersed and get him baptized. His wife then became accepting, and she understood that he was going to die. When he did, she was at peace just as he was. This is just one of the testimonies of how important our chaplains and staff are to us, and why we’re a ministry, not just a hospice.”
