As part of fulfilling the mission of Hospice Ministries, the stained-glass mural provides inspiration and solace in the lives of families that the center serves. When originally crafted, each aspect of the glass was carefully thought out, representing a unique feature. The colors within the glass represent the measurable and tangible world that we live in, in contrast to the clear and white background which represents the immeasurable unseen world. The circle signifies the unification of these two worlds through faith. The vertical lines within he glass represent the transition from earthly to heavenly realm in addition to the geometric lines in the background which signify the world beyond. Each of the earth tones within the lower section of the glass represent earth, and the cool colors within the sky represent the heavens. Furthermore, the spirit bird within the glass exemplifies the lifting of the soul into heaven, in which the viewer is placed into the context of the work of art. The window’s peaceful colors, flowing forms, and peaceful light are intentionally meant to create a place to quietly reflect on the mysteries of life.
